Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s Library
Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s Library is a treasury of Oriental culture and wisdom, manuscripts and valuable books.It is a specialized Oriental library preserving scientific information about the cultural heritage, mainly dating back to the Ottoman period.
Location: Old Town
The library, thus, has represented a guardian of the economic and cultural history of Bosnia and Herzegovina for over 400 years. The library fund holds over a hundred thousand books, manuscripts, various historic documents…

Moric Inn Moric Inn was built in the late 16th century by Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s waqf. The Inn’s cobbled yard lead towards the stables and storage spaces and the guest rooms were located at the upper floors.

Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s Endowment Ghazi Husrev-Bey is a well-known governor and benefactor of Sarajevo, son of Ferhad-Bey (Bosnian) and Selçuka (Turkish princess, daughter of Sultan Bayezid II).He gave his entire fortune to Sarajevo and endowed numerous buildings through his waqf.

Imaret and Musafirhana The Clock-Tower complex also consisted of imaret and musafirhana. Imaret was a public kitchen established for employees of the Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s waqf, students and the hungry. Musafirhana was a house designed for visitors to Sarajevo.

Kolobara-han Kolobara-han was the first inn built in Sarajevo. It is a 15th c. structure built by the endowment of Isa-Bey Ishakovic, the founder of Sarajevo.The inn had 40 rooms and could take up to four hundred people and 35 horses.

Taslihan Taslihan was built in 1543 as the Ghazi Husrev-Bey’s waqf. It had a fountain, mosque, yard, shops and storage rooms.It was severely damaged in several fires that struck Sarajevo.

Hanikah Hanikah (perz. hanikah – Dervis tekke) was built in 1531 as a rectangle-shaped building with 14 study rooms and simahana (room used for a dervish religious ritual called "zikr”). It was a beautiful atrium edifice with pillars, inner yard and a fountain.

Bascarsija In the medieval period, at the site of the present-day Bascarsija, there was a neighborhood called Stara varos. This neighborhood settled around one of the best markets in that area. It was called “Utorkoviste” as most of the trading was done on Tuesdays.
