Cemetery at Kovaci (Shahid/Martyr Cemetery) is located between Jekovac and Sirokac streets. It is a burial complex with tombs dating back to the 15th century.During the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy it was turned into a park. It had approximately 400 tombs.
Location: Old Town
Due to unfortunate events, the cemetery was set into use again in 1992, and has ever since born name the "Shahid Cemetery”.

The first president of the independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic, who passed away on October 19, 2003, was buried here.
